Cadets

These are photos and video from our Army Cadet years. It spans about a decade in all. Many are re-shared from the gallery I hosted online and managed for the Cadet Corps. I was “Communcations” person for the Parent Committee for almost the entire duration. Although much of it is of our boys Matt and Robert for the family to see, many other cadet parents enjoyed seeing their child when they could not attend the events in person. The years range from the beginning  in about 2002 and went on to when I discontinued shooting photos for the Corps in about 2012. Both of my sons received top honours and both “aged out” having their MWO position and well as leaving as the Corps RSM. Both were prominant in the band, Matt and bagpiper, became Pipe Major until he was promoted to RSM. Robert was Drum Sgt. until he was promoted as well later on. Robert and I went on in 2010 to Langley to take part in starting a new Seaforth Corps 2277. It started with just 4 cadets and Robert with help from his CWO Trevor Boorman, grew it to approximately 50 by year’s end. Robert aged out of the Langley Corps, having received the rare 7 year award for 7 years of service.

To get around just click on a year which takes you to the sub-folders in which the event photos and video are stored. Use the “breadcrumb” navigation (Home > xxxx etc) in the grey area to go back to the beginning.

All photos and video are shared from my Google Drive.

 1838 Royal Westminster Regiment

Matt was a cadet in Maple Ridge from 2002 to 2004. He then joined the Seaforths in fall of 2004 and forward until his age out in 2008. We often visited 1838 and have added a few photos from those times.

2893 & 2277 Seaforth Highlanders of Canada

Matt transfered from the Westminster Rgt, to the Seaforth Cadet Corps in fall of 2004. Here he learned bagpiping, drill, orienteering, shooting, biathlon and much more. He was pipe major of the cadet band in his later years there and aged out as RSM in 2008.

Robert joined Seaforth in fall of 2004 at age 12. He learned shooting, biathlon, orienteering, and snare drum in the cadet band. He became drum Sgt in the band before transferring to 2277 Corps in Langley.

Both Matt and Robert got to travel to Scotland with the Corps! They also were awarded National (Matt) and Regional (Robert) expeditions as well at Legion metals, and Robert received the Strathcona award.

During the 2893 years, we took a massive amount of photos and video. So much so, that I started “2893 Gallery” which was housed on my old website. We kept it running until about 2012. I have decided to put the majority of it back online, mainly our own media, but the few from others were shared to us with permission.

The Seaforth 100 event was a major event held by the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Regiment 72nd Corps. It celebrates 100 years of the Corps. Robert was one of the cadets selected tp participate in the event. He also participated in the 2010 Olympics opening act with about a 1000 other students.

Multi-Corps

Many exercises and events were shared over all the 4 then later 5 & 6 Corps. The mult-Corps gallery holds photo from those events including the “Seafoth 100” which was the regiment’s 100th anniversary! If you look real hard you should see our son Robert in with the cadets. who was one choosen to participate in this event.
